What should I bring to the course?
Comfortable shoes with a smooth sole are ideal for salsa dancing as they make it easier to turn and move. Proper dance shoes are recommended to protect your joints.
When dancing salsa, it is important to feel comfortable and be able to move freely. Therefore, comfortable clothing is recommended in which you can move well and also sweat a little.
What salsa styles are there?
There are different salsa dance styles: On2 New York Style, Salsa Puertoriqueña, On1 L.A. Style, Salsa Cubana and Salsa Caleña.
With Salsa On2, the "break" is always on 2 instead of 1, which is the main difference to Salsa On1. All other styles are danced on 1. Salsa Caleña is characterized above all by its fast steps and Salsa Cubana is typically danced in a circle.
How can I learn to dance salsa?
There are many ways to learn how to dance salsa, such as dance classes, online tutorials or workshops. Especially at the beginning, it is important to regularly attend a dance class to get used to different dance partners. Once you have reached a certain level, you can supplement your training with specific workshops or online tutorials at home.
Can salsa be danced alone or only with a partner?
Salsa can also be danced alone and is highly recommended, especially for training purposes. When you dance alone, you are responsible for dancing to the right beat and you can focus on your own movements.
